V&A Waterfront
The V&A Waterfront is situated on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, between Robben island and Table Mountain, in the heart of Cape Town’s harbour. The V&A is essentially an inner-city, high-end commercial waterfront development.The V&A has committed to various economic and corporate sustainability initiatives, having already invested R45million into energy efficiency, waste recycling and water saving.
Atlantis Special Economic Zone
The underlying philosophy governing the infrastructure master planning of the SEZ is that of sustainability; reduced waste, self-reliance, resilience and closed materials loops to moderate the need to import from outside Atlantis. Being Special: The Atlantis Greentech SEZ is about exploring a trajectory towards a low carbon and resource efficient future whilst growing social inclusion.
Cape Town (Epping) Fresh Produce Market
The market is key to Cape Town’s food security as a low-cost distribution channel supplying exporters, supermarket chains, food processors, other traders and produce markets by enabling market transparency, prompt and secure payment and market-determined prices. The combined GDP contribution is R4bn while supporting a complex network of buyers.
Philippi Horticultural Area
The food production on PHA provides food security to residents of Cape Town and helps to mitigate against rising food inflation. It is estimated that the volume produced at PHA can provide half of Cape Town’s fruit and vegetable needs. Currently one third of the produce finds its way to low-income homes.
